25 things...

1) I can't wait until 5-23-09
2) I can't wait to get married (see #1)
3) I started wearing glasses in 4th grade... and that same year I got braces. Glasses + Braces x all in one year = no good.
4) I am the oldest of 3. I have 2 younger brothers.
5) Some may think it is strange that, while in college, I lived in the dorm - all 4 years. I wouldn't trade it for anything!
6) I have never had my own place, with my own kitchen. (see #5)
7) I can't wait to find an apartment/house with Derik (see #6)
8) My engagement was a COMPLETE surprise... I actually thought that the ring box was a "prop" for my future sister-in-laws pictures
9) I didn't start wearing contacts until 9th grade (it was my birthday present) - that same year I was "allowed" to wear makeup - that was a pretty big year compared to #3
10) I was in a school musical my senior year. I was a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz. yes, i know. haha!
11) I played Softball/Baseball from 4 years of age until 7th grade. I only stopped because the next year I would have to play with 16 year old's... I was 12, and I was scared.
12) I played the clarinet in band from 6th grade until 11th grade. I don't know if I was good or not. But, our band won many awards. Participated in the Fiesta Bowl parade and also the Rose Bowl parade. One year following the other. Participated in State marching contests... don't judge me... I'm not a "band nerd" I only quit because I did not enjoy it anymore, and I made Varsity cheerleading, and enjoyed that more. (see #13)
13) I had NEVER participated in cheerleading, ever. Then, on a whim, I decided to try out my SOPHOMORE year in high school for my following junior year. I made JV. The next year - I made Varsity. I loved it and LOVED cheering. Best memories of high school.
14) I met Derik paint balling. My Aunt & Uncle were friends with his family and had been "secretly" setting us up for over a year. They actually showed him PICTURES of me! I didn't really talk to him for 1/2 a year until he came camping with my Aunt & Uncle at Lake Georgetown. It was Memorial Day weekend and it rained and pored... me and my parent's tent didn't leak... it was just wet. Derik's tent on the other hand, tore a whole and ALL his clothes were wet. I woke up and he was wearing only shorts, and all his clothes were hanging up on a clothes line. The next week, we went to a Round Rock Express game.
15) Derik and I started dating June 25th, Engaged May 24th, and will be married May 23rd. It works backwards... :)
16) I first really met Derik on Memorial Day weekend. (see #14) He proposed on Memorial Day Weekend, and we will be married on Memorial Day weekend - and I love that!
17) I would love if I COULD actually wake up to work out everyday. It is struggle.
18) I am trying to eat a lot better... it's been a week going and I can kind of tell a difference.
19) I ate a cockroach when I was a baby...
20) I love anything apple...
21) Some days I can be a homebody... others, I want to go out and do things. Mostly, I like to be alone with a book. But, better yet, with Derik.
22) I want to go to NYC, Europe (specifically Rome, Italy, and Greece), and Hawaii... really bad!
23) When I was younger - I hated reading. Now, I almost can't go to sleep without reading a chapter, at least.
24) Derik and I have never spent Valentine's Day together in the past 3 1/2 years. This Valentine's will be our first together :)
25) I was born with Jet black hair, which then became light blonde when I was 2-3... which then became brown... which is what I have now :)

Song List??

Hey Ladies,

I am trying to decide what songs to do as first dance, daddy/daughter dance, mother/son dance, entrance song etc. and so on.

Here are some ideas I have as of now (not many):

First Dance: We'd like a very classic and romantic song - think Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Michael Buble... He's already said he wants it to be something he can sing to me :)
Daddy/Daughter: Cinderella - Steven Curtis Chapman (but my dad will just cry - I know it!)
Mother/Son: really I think his mom should pick, but I have no ideas...

We really like classic songs, but would love to have country and a mix of fun pop songs... I would love it if I could get some help with songs you used, or are going to use, in your wedding. Have a song list??

Here are some first dances that just look amazing!!!

The Hair...

Now, I know I have a while for this decision... but I am taking my bridal portraits first weekend in April :) :) and need to know how to do my hair.

Here are some examples:

I cannot remember the next photo... I'll have to find it...

the next 3 are from Jasmine Star Photography

Which one do you think? there are some that are tight/clean/simple... and there are those that are a little curly and tousled? which is your preference?

I kind of like #2, because (without giving a whole lot away) I will have a similar accessory :)

Butt Dust!

What is Butt Dust???

What, you ask, is 'Butt dust?' Read on and you'll discover the joy in it!

JACK (age 3) was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister. After a while he asked: 'Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and one for cold milk?'

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, 'If you don't remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six.'

STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom good night. 'I love you so much! that when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window.'

BRITTANY (age 4) had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: 'How does it know it's me?'

SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. 'Please don't give me this juice
again,' she said, 'It makes my teeth cough.'

DJ (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: 'How much do I cost?'

MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant.. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: 'Why is he whispering in her mouth?'

CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, 'I don't know what'll happen with this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in it?'

JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: 'The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.' Concerned, James asked: 'What happened to the flea?'

TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, 'Why doesn't your skin fit your face?'

The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget.... this particular Sunday sermon...'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust...' He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Make sure you pass this one on and spread the smiles....

Got a kick out of this! I would try and pick out my favorite, but I'd probably list about 5!!!

ENJOY!

Not much...

Not much is going on right now. I know that will change REALLY soon as we have 4 months and 4 days (I can't believe it!) to go.

I know pretty soon we'll need to go look for the guys some tuxes. I'm working on our wedding invitations over email. My save the dates should be coming in soon and I hope they look good! :)

I spent this weekend camping and 4-wheeling and I'm exhausted! I had fun, but I'm just glad to be home! I am working today... so wish I actually COULD be home.

I'm going to be helping the FMIL this weekend in choosing a dress.

Another fun thing is that one of my brother's friends (senior in high school) wants me to take her pictures! how fun is that :) I contacted someone that's getting married in July that I know and was curious to know if she had a photographer. She did not and wanted to know what my rates were. Not that it's official, but it would be pretty exciting :)!!!

I'll post pics of my invitation details as they come in. Right now it's just in the planning stage.

If you'd be praying for D (my fiance). He's been trying to find a job, as I know many are, and is not having a very good time with it. We'd really appreciate anything!

I'll leave you with these:

these are pics that I took right when we left last night from camping/4 wheeling. How beautiful is our PAINTER!!!

Productive Day

FAR different from yesterday...

I accomplished A LOT!!!

You know my list from the other day? and yesterday?

Well... now it looks like this:

  • I'm working on my photography business... but wanted to do more with it this morning!
  • oil change
  • cake topper (i need to still call the cake lady about sizes)
  • guest book
  • ring bearer pillow (which my mema might make)
  • flower girl basket
  • We looked at wedding shoes and still have yet to find me one that is comfortable and cute... I would LOVE peep toe-d shoes!
  • save the dates - which I'm TRYING to wait until the end of the week to order. I've entered into a contest to win some... so, just crossing my fingers :)
  • I won custom garters for my wedding, so I need to email her about what i'd like... what do you think? more traditional - ivory/blue (something blue) or should I get something Tech?
So, I finished a lot...
☑ ordered my shoes
☑ ordered my save the dates :) - which should be here in about 2-3 weeks...
☑ created my custom garter with Julianne
☑ changed my oil - hey, it's something :)
☑ created package prices for all my senior portraits coming up!!!

... now, can I be productive tomorrow and go grocery shopping? that is the question...

To do - Today

Today... I meant* to do a lot this morning... but, when you go to bed at 3am - that's right - 3am, a lot doesn't get done.

I wanted to go to yoga... but let's go ahead and cross that off and put it on for Friday.

I PLANNED* on fixing up my save the dates and actually ORDERING them! I was holding off because I was hoping to "win" them. ok, should I go with magnets or postcards? I was originally thinking magnets... but then, everyone on my guest list wouldn't necessarily receive one. Just those that I know would love one...

I also planned on getting ORGANIZED... my mom gave me a journal/calendar for Christmas that I plan on using this year. I wrote lists upon lists last night (at work) in this journal to help me out. Gotta keep it up!

I'm working on my photography business... but wanted to do more with it this morning!

uhhh... also, I planned on eating lunch... but that did not happen... needless to say, I'm hungry and going to eat now :)

I PLAN - later tonight - to order wedding shoes I found :) fun!

I PLAN on seeing these movies soon :)
Bride Wars = fun, cute, wedding-y
Seven Pounds = Will Smith = good movie :)
Marley & Me = cute
Yes Man = looks funny
Well... gotta keep it up... that is - DON'T go to bed at 3am anymore!!!
